Investment process

On the ground, global research is the foundation of Lazard’s investment approach. Their investment professionals collaborate on detailed fundamental analysis, integrating knowledge across regions, sectors and asset classes to arrive at unique insights.

As one of the managers of Sun Life Real Assets Private Pool (for the Infrastructure portion), Lazard looks for companies that can help provide long-term, defensive, low volatility returns that can potentially exceed inflation.

They consider these companies to be "Preferred Infrastructure" companies. For example, companies that are:

  • monopoly-like;
  • that exhibit inflation pass-through properties; and
  • that have a quality regulatory and/or political environment
