Sun Life Global Investments announces changes to financial year-end of select funds

TORONTO, May 3, 2019 /CNW/ - Sun Life Global Investments (Canada) Inc. ("Sun Life Global Investments") today announced changes to the financial year-end of select funds (as listed below, the "Funds") managed by Sun Life Global Investments with the aim of aligning such Funds' year-ends with Sun Life Global Investments' other funds in order to create operational efficiencies. The Funds' year-ends will change from September 30 to December 31.

Funds impacted by this change:

  • Sun Life Excel China Fund (formerly Excel China Fund)
  • Sun Life Excel High Income Fund (formerly Excel High Income Fund)
  • Sun Life Excel India Fund (formerly Excel India Fund)
  • Sun Life Excel Emerging Markets Balanced Fund (formerly Excel Emerging Markets Balanced Fund)
  • Sun Life Excel India Balanced Fund (formerly Excel India Balanced Fund)
  • Sun Life Excel New India Leaders Fund (formerly Excel New India Leaders Fund)
  • Growth & Income Class (a class of shares of Excel Funds Mauritius Company Ltd.)
  • New Leaders Class (a class of shares of Excel Funds Mauritius Company Ltd.)

 

Transition Process
The transition year for each of the Funds will be the fifteen-month period from October 1, 2018, to December 31, 2019 (the "Transition Year"). Each of the Funds will file annual financial statements and annual MRFPs for this period by March 30, 2020. The comparative financial information included in each of the Funds' annual financial statements will be for the old financial year, the twelve-month period from October 1, 2017, to September 30, 2018.

Interim Financial Statements and MRFPs in the Transition Year:
Each of the Funds will file interim financial statements (unaudited) and interim MRFPs for the six-month interim period from October 1, 2018, to March 31, 2019, by May 30, 2019. The comparative financial information included in the interim financial statements (unaudited) will be for the six-month period from October 1, 2017, to March 31, 2018.

Annual Financial Statements and MRFPs in the New Financial Year:
Following the completion of the Transition Year for each of the Funds, the new financial year for each of the Funds will run the twelve-month period from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2020. Each of the Funds will file annual financial statements and annual MRFPs for this period. The comparative financial information included in the annual financial statements will be for the fifteen-month period October 1, 2018, to December 31, 2019.

Interim Financial Statements and MRFPs in the New Financial Year:
The interim financial period for each of the Funds under the new financial year will be for the six-month period from January 1, 2020, to June 30, 2020. Each of the Funds will file interim financial statements (unaudited) and interim MRFPs for this period. The comparative financial information included in the interim financial statements (unaudited) will be for the six-month period from January 1, 2019, to June 30, 2019.
